The Feasts of Islam

Ramadaan

Ramadaan may be seen as a festive month of compulsory fasting (Sawm). During this month "nothing must enter the body", i.e. food, drink (including saliva), smoke (of tobacco), even an injection. Sexual activity is equally forbidden. All this is, however, only between the hours of sunrise and sunset. The Ramadaan fast has definitely a pre-Islamic history.

It is believed that fasting during Ramadaan is thirty times better than at any other time. According to tradition, during this month the gates of heaven are open and the gates of hell closed, and the devils are in chains.

Those who observe the fast with pure motives will obtain remission of their sins.

LAILATU'L-QADR

"The night of power"

A mysterious night, in the month of Ramadaan, the precise date of which is said to have been known only to the Prophet and a few of the companions. It is usually celebrated on the 27th night of Ramadaan and many Muslims believe that their sins are forgiven during this night. The following is the allusion to it in the Qur'an:

"We have indeed revealed this (message) in the Night of Power.

And what will explain to thee what the Night of Power is?

The Night of Power is better than a thousand months.

Therein come down the angels and the spirit by Allah's permission, on every errand.

Peace! ... This until the rise of Morn!"

Influenza A virus subtype H1N1

Influenza A(H1N1) virus is a subtype of influenzavirus A and the most common cause of influenza (flu) in humans. Some strains of H1N1 are endemic in humans and cause a small fraction of all influenza-like illness and a large fraction of all seasonal influenza. H1N1 strains caused roughly half of all human flu infections in 2006. Other strains of H1N1 are endemic in pigs (swine influenza) and in birds (avian influenza).

In June 2009, World Health Organization declared that flu due to a new strain of swine-origin H1N1 was responsible for the 2009 flu pandemic. This strain is commonly called "swine flu" by the public media.

vandalizes

Who Vandalizes and Why?

Some vandals work in groups. You may even know some of the teens doing the damage — there's no one "type" of teen who vandalizes. He or she might be the smartest kid in school, or the kid who's always in trouble. Most vandals are young people — from grade schoolers to teens to young adults — who vandalize out of

  • boredom
  • anger
  • revenge
  • defiance
  • association with friends.

Take Action

  • Take pride in your surroundings. Vandalism cheapens your area and you.
  • Learn about the costs and effects of vandalism by working with law enforcement, school officials, and community leaders. Teach what you learn to other teenagers and younger children.
  • Start a clean-up crew at your school or in your neighborhood. Ask local businesses to donate supplies like paint and paintbrushes for covering graffiti, or tools and equipment for repairing vandalized property. Volunteer to help businesses and homeowners repair their property as soon as it is vandalized and paint over graffiti.
  • Write articles for your school or community newspaper on the costs of vandalism and graffiti, their impact on school and other budgets for activities, and how the courts — juvenile and adult — treat vandals.
  • Look for ways to use the talent and creativity of vandals in positive, nondestructive activities. Sponsor a mural contest at your school or a youth center. Encourage art supply stores and area businesses to provide large canvases and materials for kids to create murals inspired by themes like saying no to drugs, the importance of education, or celebrating diversity in your community. Ask local artists to attend and provide instruction and advice or judge a mural contest.
  • Start a vandalism hotline in cooperation with law enforcement and school officials that lets callers anonymously report incidents of vandalism and gives tips about vandals.
  • Work with your faith community to adopt a street or a park with your school, youth, or community group. Plant trees, bushes, and flowers. Repair equipment and install trash containers. Organize a monthly outing to clean up garbage and keep an eye on things.

Lemang is glutinous rice mixed with coconut milk then compacted into a hollow bamboo rod....

lemang can eaten with curries, rendang or popularly with serunding...

Personally, I don’t like it much but I know of people who love it so much they even eat it outside of the festive season..!!

in my opinion lemang maker must produce 'lemang mini' where people can buy and eat lemang anytime ...

bowling 4 health

it can increase flexibilty of arms and shoulders, strengthen legs, and improve coordination... the act of delivering a bowl involves a back swing, foward swing, release and follow through...

these movements involve the coordinated action of muscle in the back, shoulder, arms and legs. during the delivery the back maybe bent forward and twisted..
this imposes considerable mechanical stress on the disc, ligament and muscles of the lower back..
